I came across a site and its service was to pay them a certain amount of $$$ and they will send your site to people to view, it was something like 1000 visitors for £20 or so. I still had no sign up. That’s £20 gone. I started to look for more sites via google and while doing so, a pop up window appeared. The page had a log in field, picture of a lady and a paragraph, Chat link, forum…. “ what is it I have to do to make 2.1% per day “ My replies were to open an e-gold account. I didn’t know what that was so I just did via the link http://www.e-gold.com. After a few more questions my next step was to fund my e-gold account. The member of the chatroom gave me this link www.goldnow.st. I used credit card. My e-gold account was funded with $200 and now I had to deposit it into my foreign-fund account. This was instantaneous. I was now on my way to making 2.1% per day in profit. I started calculating how much I would make if I left it in a certain period of time. This was that part I loved best, seeing the potential amount of money I could make doing nothing. $200 invested at 2.1% profit per day 2.1% x 7day = 14.7% 14.7 x 4 weeks = 58.8 % Month 1 $200 x 1.588 = $317.6
As you can see the numbers were mind boggling and seemed too good to be true. I thought to myself “Can I withdraw all that money? “ I left the money to grow for 3 month, constantly monitoring it everyday. Month 4 was payday for me. I logged in and clicked “withdraw to e-gold” Everything seemed to be to going so smoothly, always seeing my account balance increase each day I logged in. The chat room link was my favourite place to just talk about how rich we’re all going to be. It didn’t seem too good to be true because I was living it ! It seemed like I hit the jackpot of investing. When comparing to banks that have interest rates of 4% a year I knew of programs that could pay that amount in 2 days! BANK = 4% a year I certainly knew what I wanted, I automatically thought I was going to be rich very quick ! Leaving foreign-fund aside to make my account balance grow I explored the I looked it up at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HYIP The term PONZI came up regularly as well. Forum chatters would say “ it’s a ponzi “ To cut a story short, Charles Ponzi was a guy in the 1920 that gave investors the opportunity to invest and receive 50% profit in 45 days. He was taking later investors’ money to pay earlier investors. Taking Paul’s money, to pay Peter, and the whole process would start again. These programs would be known as scams/ponzis. www.talkgold.com/forum was not the only HYIP information site I’d come across. One program that caught my eye on www.hyipinvestment.com was a program called www.feederfund.net at the top spot. It is program that pools money together so that we as investors can invest in bigger program that need a minimum amount to join e.g. $50,000 “Why would anyone want to join a program that pays so low per month when I get double that with foreign-fund and its equivalence “ Each to their own I guess, but little did I know that feederfund is a goldmine!!!! 2 more months went by and my account balance kept growing, so I decided to take out my principle money, leaving the rest of the profits to grow. This was smooth process, paid immediately to my e-gold account. But then next month everything went crashing down. Excuses were “ we have a problem with out payment processor “ More and more excuses and finally they disappeared. It turned out to be a well planned ponzi, and the one factor that attracted many was the chat room where the admin of the program was most of the time present. This in a sense made investor feel comfortable. That was my first investment program. Luckily I didn’t lose out. At this point I still hadn’t learnt much about this arena, except learn the phrase through constantly reading forums
